They are not the Sandals or Hyatt that we see marketed everywhere. Though some of these might still be heavily marketed, they may not be as popular as the others, especially to foreigners. Nonetheless, a secret here is that some of these boutique hotels are owned and operated by those who operate the more notorious resorts, such as those aforementioned. On the other hand, some are family or independently owned.
Boutique hotels and resorts in Montego Bay more than anything else offer convenience as they are located within 1-3 miles from the Sangster’s International Airport (MBJ). Here is a list of some of the lesser known, more intimate hotels and resorts located in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
1. Zoetry Montego Bay Jamaica
Zoetry is on the rise. Though it was built in the late 90s, it hasn’t gotten much fame until it’s renovation in 2016. Still, you may not see a lot of reviews or content about it online. Nonetheless, recently, we’ve seen some deals being marketed for the resort. Zoetry Montego Bay is an oasis of serenity with only 50 suites, all overlooking the ocean. It offers many boutique features, including gourmet dining, top-shelf beverages, 24-hour room service, daily yoga sessions, a complimentary 20-minute massage and it’s serene and private atmosphere. I must admit that it sounds like poetry, so if you are an aesthetic lover, you’d court this idea.
2. S Hotel
S Hotel is a chic and luxurious property located in the heart of the hip strip tourist district of Montego Bay. It offers 120+ spacious, stylish rooms and suites with stunning ocean views, fitted with modern amenities including Nespresso machines, 55-inch flat-screen TVs and rainfall showerheads. It also has a rooftop pool, two restaurants, a lobby bar and a spa. Many do not know this, but S Hotel is the Spanish Court Hotel of Montego Bay. Based on reviews, S Hotel is more enjoyable than Spanish Court Hotel. That’s however understandable because the property that Spanish Court Hotel is on is relatively small, and in Kingston, there isn’t much scalability.
3. Seagarden Beach Resort
If you’re trying to find resorts in Jamaica with infinity pool, this is one of them! Seagarden Beach Resort is an elegant, all-inclusive, adults-only resort situated on the famous “Hip Strip” of Montego Bay, offering a choice of 140 rooms, all equipped with air-conditioning, satellite TV, private balconies and free Wi-Fi. Seagarden Beach Resort features an infinity pool, which is the most classic feature, two restaurants, a spa and daily entertainment.
4. Breathless Montego Bay Resort and Spa
Breathless Montego Bay Resort and Spa, located on the hip strip, is an all-exclusive, adults-only, beachfront resort. It features a lively atmosphere, luxurious accommodations, a variety of dining options, an out-of-this-world spa and an endless list of activities to keep guests entertained. What makes this resort stand out is it’s elegant and modern bedrooms, all offering a view of the ocean. Its aesthetics and features will surely take your breath away! A fun fact is that Breathless Montego Bay Resort is a child of Hyatt, but it isn’t as popular because many do not know this.
5. Secrets St. James Montego Bay
The name alone says it. When you hear “secrets”, you think boutique and the potentially hidden features. Well, Secrets St. James Montego Bay is one of Hyatt’s secret boutique getaways, offering unlimited luxury, located beside Breathless Montego Bay Resort. Both of them are in a serene archipelago, so it’s away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s a contemporary, upscale, all-inclusive hotel offering stunning ocean views and a freshwater pool, gourmet dining, and top-shelf spirits. The spa features an array of therapies to pamper guests, while the beach offers a variety of water sports.
6. Hotel Montego
Hotel Montego is a small resort for intimate gatherings where you can spend time with your friends, family or a vacation with your partner without much interference that you’d get from large gatherings of people. This family-owned hotel combines traditional Caribbean charm with modern comforts and is situated in the heart of Montego Bay. It features 140 rooms, a rooftop pool, a variety of dining options and easy access to the beach.
7. Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay
Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay is an all-inclusive, adults-only, beachfront resort offering luxury accommodations, fine dining, a top-notch spa and a long list of activities to keep guests entertained. Don’t confuse Secrets Wild Orchid with Secrets, thought they are both operated by Hyatt. Out of the three – Breathless, Secrets and Secrets Wild Orchid, this one would be my pick if I had to choose based on it’s precise location. They are all located on the same archipelago, but Secrets Wild Orchid is at the very end, which makes it closest to an almost endless shoreline and beachfront. This is however your decision; you can try all three and let us know how each feels.
8. Hotel Grand a View
Hotel Grand a View is a small, boutique hotel perched atop a coral reef above the sea offering a grand view of the exquisite surroundings of Montego Bay. This is the perfect place to escape and unwind and enjoy some of the Jamaica’s most picturesque views. It features three stunning suites, a private rooftop pool and a gourmet restaurant. Hotel Grand a View offers a shuttle service that will take you to the airport, nearby beaches, attractions and shops.
